Vrisch Gewagt Boutique Olive farm located in the Karoo, offers luxury self-catering accommodation.
Conveniently situated in the Prince Albert part of Prince Albert, this property puts you close to attractions and interesting dining options. This 4-star property is packed with in-house facilities to improve the quality and joy of your stay.
Surrounded by towering, ancient mountains, this Karoo olive farm offers rugged landscapes and absolute peace (it’s 35km from Prince Albert). Once torn in two by feuding brothers, the historic farm has been restored to a glorious 1 600-hectare property. There are seven accommodation options, filled with heritage and character but equipped with modern bathrooms and kitchens.
The 1914 farmhouse lives up to its new name, Paradys Huis (it has the best views on the farm from its verandah), plus there’s the original grand Manor House up on a hill for larger groups, and five cottages, each with their own attractions. Hannes Cottage has a romantic sunken bath for two; Library Cottage houses a collection of over 100 books; Cook’s Cottage has a wonderful living area and kitchen with a red Smeg fridge; the rustic Birdwatcher River Cottage has a farm-style oven and shares a wall with the quirky Artist River Cottage.
The farm is yours to explore on walks and picnics, plus there are three swimming pools overlooking the orchards, a bird hide and a floating deck on the dam.

2 weeks agoStayed 3 fantastic nights. The place has sleep woza woza (my body clock is 7am but this place just kept me down till past 8 even with the heat. Beautiful scenery, very peaceful, quiet and private; great for afternoon naps. Took 90 min walks with my 3 year old toddler and we enjoyed every minute of it. And the fresh water pool was perfect for cooling off. Coming from a small humid town Tzaneen, I grew up in the kind of heat that creeps into your skin at night, so I was pleasantly surprised by the cool nights in this area; plus no mosquitoes so you could fall asleep under the stars. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Perfect hide out.

a year agoI stayed here a few weeks ago and I was on cloud nine to say the least... This accomodation is located on the outskirts of Price Albert, making it extremely peaceful and quiet perfect for a getaway in the country side. Upon our arrival we were greeted by the lovely manager and then the owner also came to say hi. We preordered meat from the farm which was of excellent quality, and hormone free. The houses were extremely modern and decorated to perfection. I have never seen such spacious and luxurious looking bathrooms than here. The kitchen was well equipped perfect if you want to barbecue. This experience can also be shared with fur friends as it is pet friendly. The view is stupendous and can be enjoyed from everywhere including from the wonderful pool. There are also two dams where guests can fish, or can take a walk to. All in all, it was one of the best stays. I was so blown away with the stunning house and helpful team. Definitely would recommend!

a year agoWhat a beautiful welcome from the staff manager Chantelle and staff, who were all amazing. We had such a pleasant and enjoyable stay. The beauty of Vrisch Gewagt is so breathtaking, unexplainable for words. The Library cottage, is so unique, clean, spacious and well decorated. As for the beds, well, we slept like babies, extremely comfortable. Kitchen well equipped, and was able to make a plan cooking each and every fresh vegie from the garden, so yummy. Just love the shower and openess of the large windows in the bathroom. Definately a highlight for the last night, a lovely bath in the beautiful victorian bath. Enjoyed the view from each room in the house.. Able to view from one side to another.... Overlooking mountains... Stunning. Would highly recommend this break and a get away for anyone wanting to connect with the beauty of nature, or if you want to feel closer to god. Thats the place to be. Really peaceful. Thank u, we had a fantastic relaxed time. Monique and Colin
