Our guides and instructors are always present to assist and they are there to make sure you have a memorable experience. You and your family can feel safe under the watchful eyes of a team of dedicated and qualified instructors.
We cater for any level of riding experience, from the tenderfoot (totally new to riding), Beginner/Novice (starting to learn the ropes, but lacks confidence) to Intermediate (has some experience) and Experienced (can ride well).

Maximum number of riders per activity is limited to 12, and it might be less, depending on the activity.
Doornkraal has always had horses. We have relied on them for many generations and the 140 years that this farm has been in care of the Le Roux family. And although horses are not used anymore in daily farming activities, they remain loved and trusted companions. We highly value a good temperament, willingness and kindness towards people in a riding horse.
Therefore DOORNKRAAL HORSES are carefully selected from various bloodlines of South African horses that were bred for local conditions – the legendary Cape Riding Horse, Boerperd and Nooitgedachter – known for their outstanding temperament, versatility, riding comfort and sure-footedness.
The big variety of routes were selected to introduce riders to the breathtaking and unspoilt Klein Karoo landscape. Duration of rides is from 1½ hours to multi-day guided adventures. We accommodate riders of all ages and skill levels.

The views across the Karoo were nothing short of breathtaking, topped with that kind of quiet that resets your soul. Celia (guide) was knowledgeable, friendly, and struck the perfect balance between safety, adventure and fun. 2 months agoWe had an amazing ride on the Kudu trail. Horses are well trained, energetic and the saddles comfortable! The guiding was excellent and my girls (9 and 11) were over the moon. The views were really something too… thanks for a great experience and hope to be back soon!

a month agoAn unforgettable sunrise ride in the KarooWe had an absolutely wonderful experience with Klein Karoo Adventure Horseback Riding. Riding through the Karoo just after sunrise, guided by Lizelle, was truly magical. The landscape, the light, the calmness of the morning — everything came together to create a moment we will never forget.It was the perfect way to end the year, and we already know we will be coming back very soon. A big thank you to the entire team for the warm, friendly, and uncomplicated organization and care. 2 months agoWe’ve had the most amazing ride with Celia as our guide. The Kudu trail is a beautiful trail on an adventurous path through the mountains. The horses were amazing to ride. So comfortable, well behaved and fun. The cantering we did on this trail is something that felt like being in a movie. We have talked about it afterwards over and over again what an incredible experience that was. And Celia is such a lovely warm hearted person, calm, relaxed and gave us great instructions to have a safe trot and canter. We hope to be back soon!
