Indalu, derived from the Xhosa word for “nature”, is a stunning game reserve situated 30 km from Mossel Bay, 20 km from Albertinia and just 2 km off the N2 towards Cape Town. Indalu is situated on the world-renowned Garden Route of South Africa which is arguably the best adventure holiday destination. We offer an authentic and intimate elephant experience where guests can interact, walk and feed our majestic African elephants in their natural habitat. As we drive with a game viewing vehicle to the location of the elephants, guests have the opportunity to view other big 5 animals as well as various antelope species.

Join us for an experience of a lifetime as you go on a guided walk with our elephants. Our experienced guides will introduce you to our gentle giants for an informative session as you get to walk and interact with them and feed them a healthy snack bucket. Join us for a memorable vacation. For the discerning visitor that wants to prolong their stay at Indalu, there are luxury chalets on the banks of the river with personalised service and a fully equipped central kitchen and outside lapa area.
Each chalet is equipped with 3/4 twin beds and a queen-size bed, with one bathroom that has a shower, basin and toilet.
Visitors can fly to George Airport 70 km away or jet in with a private craft to the Mossel Bay airfield approximately 35 km away.

3 weeks agoPerfect Time at Indalu Game Reserve. Gerhard and Arina are perfect hosts. The Elephant walk was a unique experience. You feel that they love what they do and that the respect and the wellbeing of the animals is priority No. 1. The accommodation was very comfortable und as there are only two chalets at the moment you will have a really private experience in the wilderness. We will definitely come back and can absolutely recommend the reserve to everyone looking for something special 🫶🏼 we wish you all the best!

3 weeks agoThe management were outstanding in helping us accommodate my Dad as he is 89 and wasn’t feeling well. They made him so happy. The chalets were great and the setting beautiful. We had lots of animals wandering through and the birds were so entertaining too. Hanro took us on a great game viewing trip. Gerhard and Arina were lovely. It was such a special experience I shall never forget.

a week agoSmall but personalised game reserve as there are only 2 chalets and we were lucky enough that the other chalet was not booked. It is a self catering accommodation with a shared fully equipped kitchen and a bbq. Lovely seating area. Definitely a more personalised experience with the animals. This morning, we were awoken by a giraffe eating beside our bedroom window

Unlike many other reserves in the area, this place isn’t driven by profit or mass tourism — it’s all about a genuine, respectful, and sustainable connection with nature and the animals.We were guided by the owner’s son, who was not only incredibly knowledgeable and passionate but also gave us fascinating insights into the challenges and realities of running a private game reserve. After Endula agreed to change our booking to the next day due to our 19month old not feeling well, the experience on the day was exceptional! Hanro went above and beyond during our elephant experience and made it absolutely unforgettable for our little one. Will definitely return for another experience and an overnight stay
