Looking back in Thyme After touring the entire South African coastline in the 1930’s, J.J. de Kock found Keurboomstrand which he believed was the most beautiful beach in South Africa.
In 1937 he built a humble beach cottage and passed on his love for the area to his family. J.J’s granddaughter Tessa decided to escape the hustle and bustle of city life in 1993 and moved to Keurbooms to start a farm stall next to the N2, 6km from Plettenberg Bay.
The farm stall started out in a small house as a veggie stall and slowly, but surely grew with each passing year until it became the bustling destination that it is today. In 2012, Kirsten joined forces with Tessa, launching Thyme & Again into the next, exciting chapter.

a month agoWow! I love this place :-) I can not eat lemon meringue pie anywhere because my mom makes the best- but this one was really tempting. The smell when you walk in is so incredible- just pure butter. We sat down and ate a quiche with salad and I had the chili con carne - absolutely delicious! Will find a reason to go this way again. If you are on your way to the eastern Cape this is the last good place before Humansdorp and St Francis. Great clean loos, delish food and kids play area.

in the last weekUnfortunately we had a bad experience at Thyme & Again today.Despite the sign at their outdoor seating area indicating that dogs are allowed on leash, we noticed a dog roaming freely. This dog showed raised hackles towards our dogs, which made us feel very uncomfortable. When I went inside to ask the staff to please get this dog on a leash, they pointed me to the owner of the dog. When I firmly asked the owner to put her dog on a leash, she responded “you will not tell me what to do in my establishment…” I repeatedly asked her to put the dog on a leash as the sign at the gate clearly indicates that dogs should be ON leash. She responded “the sign only applies to guests…”We love dogs, our dogs travel with us and are welcomed in all the pet-friendly establishments we frequent. I just don’t think it is fair to other customers to see the owners dog roam freely in an area where food and drinks are prepared…. and make the other customers uncomfortable. The breakfast was very average and not worth the money. We have worked in the hospitality industry for years and the breakfast we had could not have cost them more than R15 to prepare, they sell it for R77… no garnish, and undercooked chips. The coffee was ok, service slow.Despite the dog issue, we won’t be returning for the food, definitely not value for money.

3 weeks agoWe stopped on our way out of Plett and appreciate the warm reception we received even though it was nearly closing time - friendly staff is an under statement ! The farm stall sells wonderful local produce and their cafe has a well thought out menu at very reasonable prices. The fresh produce was limited - maybe not the best season for it however we were very impressed with the wine ! A definite must stop if you are in the area !

a month agoMy toastie was delicious and the coffee was good but our scones were lacking... Tasted freezer burnt and the strawberry "jam" was probably straight from a can. My friend said the scones were "the worst I've ever had."As you can see from the pictures, the playstructure is derelict and a real safety hazard. I actually saw a girl fall through the bridge, luckily unhurt. That said, my kids liked digging in the sand, it's a peaceful environment and the toilets were clean. The service was inattentive but not unfriendly.
